Here is some statistics regarding the Box Office for the film for the opening weekend. It is hard to find one figure as many different websites have different numbers but below shows a variety of the ones that I've found and some newspaper articles talking about the film's Box Office.
This is a slide talking about Chernin Entertainment which is one of the production companies who were involved in making Dawn of the Planets of the Apes. There is a link between the founder of the company, Peter Chernin, and the film's distributor, 20th Century Fox. Chernin used to be the chairman for Fox and therefore has many contacts which would have made it easier for the film to be distributed.
This slide is talking about 20th Century Fox who distributed the film. Fox is one of the Big Six Institutions in the film industry.
